Feature description
If you want to turn your WordPress website into a WordPress Extranet and like to make (parts of) your WordPress website available to customers, partners or basically to any other user from another Microsoft Office 365 Azure AD tenant, you can configure the premium version of the WordPress + Office 365 Login plugin so that it supports Azure AD multi-tenanted applications. In combination with the Domain whitelist you have a powerful tool in your hands to restrict your extranet to a list of allowed tenants / domains.
An additional capability offered by the plugin is support for scenarios where you’d like your website visitor to sign into your website manually, e.g. when he or she is about to place an order and you’d like that user to create an account first. In this case you can offer the user – with the a simple shortcode – the option to Sign in with Microsoft by providing him or her with a simple button or link. When a user clicks the button or link he or she will be redirected to Microsoft, asked to consent to your web application receiving a handful of profile data and if confirmed, Microsoft will reply with an (Open Connect) ID token for that user. The plugin will process this token as usual and create a WordPress account for your extranet user and automatically sign that user into your website.
Please note that your extranet users must use their Microsoft Work or School accounts to sign into your website.
Required Configuration
To allow external users to sign into your website with Microsoft, you must configure the following settings:
